Living a balanced life is all about finding harmony in all aspects of your life. Here are 5 steps to help you discover and begin to create balance and harmony in your life.
Making Time for SELF CARE:
Making time for self care and finding some of those stress management tools is really important. What does this look like? This can include practices like meditation, breathing exercises yoga, or simply taking a relaxing epson salt bath with some essential oils
Connect with NATURE:
Connecting with nature and spending time outdoors whenever you have a chance. This can be as simple as taking a walk or hike, or visiting the water and sitting quietly by the ocean, the lake, or river. Try not to over complicate this, if your time is limited start with a 10 minute walk.
Cultivate meaningful RELATIONSHIPS:
Cultivate meaningful relationships with friends, family, and other positive influences in your life. This connection with others is essential to our well-being. These relationships increase our joy and happiness. Find a coffee date with a friend or your mother. Or when you are connecting with nature bring someone you love with you.
Engage in HOBBIES:
Engage in activities that bring you joy and promote your personal growth. The things that fill up your cup and make you find those small hits of happiness. This can include reading , learning a new skill, or pursuing a hobby. Try painting, knitting, drawing, or grab your phone or camera and take a photo a day.
Nourish your BODY:
Nourish your body with a healthy, balanced diet that includes plenty of colorful fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins. This does not have to be complicated. Start by introducing 2-3 new fruits and vegetables onto your plate at each meal. Eliminate food that comes in packages and stick with the foods that are whole!
In this crazy hectic life we tend to lean into the immediate fixes that are thrown at us all day long through social media, our phones, the television…and it can take away any motivation or excitement to do anything good our ourselves because basically we get completely overwhelmed and feel like we are failures before we even begin something.
That is why I am here, I want you all to see you have the ability to take care of yourself! I am going to say that again!
You have the ability to take care of yourself!
You actually have more simple tools than you realize! What do I mean by that? Well, as you read through these 5 steps to finding more balance, each one can be done without really spending that much time or money!
Let me explain…
The first one is SELF CARE, take a bath or hot shower each night before bed. This is something that does not cost anything and it WILL impact your mood and your sleep! The second step is connecting in NATURE. So, go for a walk or go to the lake and sit. FREE! You are given the gift of your own human body that can walk you through nature, so use it and feel the shift! Third, CULTIVATE meaningful relationships, make breakfast for your kids or your dad and sit together and nourish your bodies together. Play a card game and be together. The fourth step is to ENGAGE in hobbies, this could be challenging at times if you have created a life centered around your career, but as I stated above, you have a smartphone most likely so start with something simple like take one photo a day based on a theme. And engage in a small creative project for yourself. You already have the tool, and in step two you are getting into nature so it's a double whammy! Lastly, this one can be one of the more challenging for people, but I got you! NOURISH your body with healthy foods. Let’s go simple. Your breakfast can be some scrambled eggs with three colorful veggies of choice, a slice of sourdough toast and some blueberries. WHAM! You did it!
All of these steps are not going to consume your day, in fact they will make your day BETTER! Over time, you will notice the shift in your body, your mind, and your soul. These steps are going to become so intentional that you will not want to miss out on doing them!
