It is so simple to say yet it is pretty deeply meaningful really. I just really want to help people heal. I want to see people get better and move through their lives with a bit less pain, discomfort, and frustration.
I think we live in a world that is constantly on the go, not only in the physical day to day rush of life, but also our minds stimulated constantly! The daily or moment by moment stimulus of social media, our cell phones, streaming…I could go on and on.
I feel this twinge in me to share with the world my experiences, my journeys, even my struggles…all of which brought me to this point right here. Creating this content for you. I want to be able to help people heal through the foundations of food, yoga, movement, and meditation. The basics of these are what are going to make you grow!
I walk this same world as every single one of you each day! Trying to get through my day…did I eat enough…did I do my yoga…should I have another cup of coffee…did the kids get enough attention…you see I am not living any differently than any of you and I have experience to share! I can spend time with you and help you learn how to heal.
I started practicing yoga over 20 years ago, and it was hard. So. very. hard. I also fell in love with it so much that I decided to become a teacher. As I have been on my mat over the years I have been graced with my own experiences of how hard it is to find my self practice at home. Sitting on my yoga mat in the middle of the living room, and deciding to scroll through instagram instead of doing my yoga. Can you relate?
And, meditation…a life long journey. I have had to find the tools, the tips, and the tricks that truly work for me. Surprise….I do not sit for 2 hours a day…that is not actually something that is possible for me. I have a neurodivergent brain (ADHD) so I have had to learn what I need and what is successful for my own practice. That will be shared in another post. I want to help people heal and understand the simplicity of finding a meditation practice that works for them. Sometimes, I find my mat for 5 minutes and I breathe and other times I have found that I walk the beach in total silence with my dog Wonder and find deep meaning and solace in that walking meditation.
After several years of teaching yoga, I also found the love of nourishing foods. This was not actually because I LOVED nourishing foods, to be completely honest, I was about to have my first kid, and I realized that it was going to be my responsibility to feed him. Yup, to be totally real with you, I really truly found my love of functional nutrition therapy because I knew that I had humans to raise that needed to know what healthy food was. And, ya know what…we eat crappy food sometimes. I want to be able to work with people to heal with nourishing foods, and I want them to know there are foundational basics they can start with. You do not have to become vegan, or start intermittent fasting, or go full tilt keto. You can simply start to implement simple steps in your life and take the pressure off.
I also recommend getting off social media because lets be completely real, Instagram gives us all only about 1% of the story of the people that we follow, but what we take away from those posts messes with about 98% of our minds and we then believe we are going to fail at just about everything we are going to take on.
This journey of life that we are all on takes effort and dedication to ourselves. That is not an easy process. In fact, right now I believe this world holds a lot more stress, anxiety, fear, and struggle than many of us have ever had before. So, I offer you this space, to read and enjoy content that I hope will bring you back to your foundations of healing. To know that you are walking the same earth as me, and I can not wait to share with you all information and knowledge about ways for you to heal. Because at the end of the day I just really want to help people heal.
