The struggle is real when it comes to making dinner!
I would like to share a few of my favorites resources for meal prep...we all need it!
I know you know what it feels like to realize at like 4:45 pm in your day that you have not even begun to think about what you are going to eat for dinner, never the less what your children are going to eat for dinner. I am right there with you.
I do believe there may be a few out there that believe I have it all together as a Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and that every meal is well balanced and nourishing and full of goodness…..
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
I will be the first one to share that I struggle DEEPLY with meal planning. It is not a natural skill for me. Now, a lot of this has to do with my ADHD, planning is not exactly something that I excel at when it comes to my neurodivergent brain. So, for me, I have got to have TOOLS! And, over the years I have found certain resources that bring me straight up joy, so I thought that I would share them with you today.
I do not use all of these all of the time, but I do seek them out A LOT for support in my meals that I do plan out for the week. So, here are some tips that I do with my family and also some great resources for you to check out as well!
First off, You do NOT need to meal plan 7 days a week! Goodness, that is completely exhausting, and to be honest…could set you up for failure! So, pick 3-4 nights, and then have 1 left over night, 1 night that you have scrambled eggs and veggies, and maybe your family does take out or goes out one night. Boom! You got a week all set!
Do some prep on two days of the week. Now, this is something that I try to do on Sundays, I will make a soup or two or at least get the foods figured out and organized so that I can easily access them throughout the week
Use websites and resources like Fed and Fit Healthy Recipes, Meal Prep + More! I have used this site for YEARS!! Now, she has recently done a HUGE overall and it’s even better, so now you can get meal plans, recipes, articles, resources, videos and more. It’s magic for sure. She focuses on keeping things simple and easy…I LOVE THAT! And, she has very intentional food choices for following healthy and nutrient dense recipes. Like, this instant recipe is amazing!
Balanced Bites! God, I love this woman’s spice blends, like ALOT! Why? because they are clean, sugar free, and loaded with amazing flavors! These are amazing, so order some and you will see for yourself. BTW, I am not paid for any of these recommendations, I just feel deeply in sharing with you all that you can access free content that will give you healthy food options for you and your family! Not only are there spices but the recipes are STELLAR!!! Like, this salad, is freaking magic!
Now, if you want to GEEK out and learn more about cooking, which can be fun when you have the time, you need to check out Nourished Kitchen! This is like an encyclopedia of food and nourishment. I can spend hours on her site, reading and learning and wishing that I could do all the things she can. I have also learned a lot and made some great food from her site! We all need to have inspiration in our lives, so bookmark her cuz its magic!
Want some guidance? What if you sat down and had a One on One consult with me? Let’s meal plan, brainstorm, and find ways to support your family to get nourishing food options that are in a way that is successful for where you are at!
We are all working through life, hoping to get at least one or two meals on the table for our families, so if we get that we NEED to celebrate. You need to just remember you are not the only ones running around with soccer shoes flying out of your car, and your coffee spilling on your lap as you zoom out of the driveway.
Start small, pick two recipes from these resources and try them, or sign up for a meal list from Fed and Fit and see if they inspire you. Sometimes those small shifts can really create some magic! Then, comment and share with me what you made! I want to hear all about it!
Thanks for sharing time with me! Let’s stay in touch!
