To begin again. To feel the incredible frustration of not committing to those new years resolutions and it is only Feb 5th. The feelings are incredible. The frustration, disappointment….again. I failed again. The mind races with all the excuses and the reasons and the rhymes as to why it didn’t work this time. I feel the excuses build, the sadness increase, and my heart to break one more time for the lack of my success…
I am writing this in complete honesty for you. I have been on this path for years and years, and I want to share with you. Why? I know I am not the only one. You too have these same feelings happen, and I want to let you know that you are not alone.
We all have to begin again. Again and again. To start again from a space of compassion and a sympathetic heart.
I reflect back on a writing my teacher and mentor wrote…
This year may I live with a beginner’s heart and learn to love the world as it is, taking nothing for granted. With a sympathetic heart, can I melt the hard and fast assumptions I conceal inside and welcome that which I don’t know and can never fathom? Can I be tender with my old wounds, knowing that you also harbor similar hurts? With beginner’s heart, I honor my own wild, neurodivergent self while celebrating the splash of color that makes you, you. This year I resolve to be open to the kaleidoscopic karma that make up the human scene. And most of all, I resolve to see that above and beyond the differences that define us, there is a deep and wide commonality we share. Perhaps this will be the year, with beginner’s heart and beginner’s mind, that we meet in the beautiful, bright space of pure potential, second to none.
Perhaps this is going to be the year that we can begin with a completely different mind set. I invite you to explore this process of intentionality and compassion for ourselves. We can ALLOW ourselves to begin again with forgiveness and permission that with each step we have learned something new.
Something that will make us grow just a little bit more and gain a little more, so we get a little bit further down our path or our journeys with grace and joy.
One step in front of the other. We take one thing at a time to get little further.
My suggestions to support you!
Meditation is a challenge! If this is new to you, I offer you the option to meditate for 5 minutes! Yup, take is slow. Maybe try using an app such as Glo.com or Headspace, or try a free mediation on Spotify. The idea here, introduce it slowly increase over time. You will start to feel the benefits and actually crave it more! I have a meditation for you here!
Introduce Nutrient Dense Foods! What does that mean? Introduce colorful foods! Pick foods that have bright colors and do not come in a box. Pick one meal to focus on and then increase to two meals then three! I want to share with you three posts that can help you with the foundations of your food! Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats!
Support Your Digestion! One f the most overlooked steps in our health journey is how to support our digestion! This is what helps us absorb all our nutrients, to help us create healthy hormones and regulate blood sugar! Use some simple tips like adding a shot of apple cider vinegar before eating to stimulate digestive enzymes! Get more tips here!
Yoga and movement! Yoga is not about standing on your head or twisting yourself into a pretzel. It is about connecting movement and breath to help your body find a space of grace and calm. It is about intentional supported movements that work for your body. Start with a yin class, or join a restorative class that takes things slow. And, if you are a driver by nature these types of classes are even more important for you! Your body needs the slow and steady. Join me at BLU for a class in person or virtually. Even consider doing a private 1:1 where you can study what your body needs most and customize your practice.
Hydrate! Look, simply drinking water seems easy, but it can be a challenge, and if you do not drink a lot normally you need to take it slow. Your recipe for success is 1/2 your body weight in ounces each day. Now, jumping into this right away you will pee all day! So, introduce electrolytes as you drink, this will help your body hydrate. LMNT is my go-to! Check out my article here are tips for hydration!
Take one more step to heal. Sometimes what we need most is the support of another persons to guide us, teach us, and give us the tools we need to work through our struggles. I want to offer you support. Join me for 1:1 support and help. We can take a deep dive into your nutrition, deficiencies that may be showing up, and then we build a plan to success. Want to take that step, let’s do it!
To begin again is not easy. We have to be able to offer ourselves steps that are doable and attainable. Have grace and a sympathetic heart as we work to heal and grow.
P.S. Did you know you can join me weekly at the studio? Find classes here!
