What in the world is happening to my body?
Why is the struggle so real about taking care of my body?
Spring has arrived and Summer is just around the corner, and I cannot wait for those incredibly yummy warm summer days that will eventually bless us!
How many of you then have these thoughts filter through your mind?
“Ugh, I put on Winter 15, and I feel terrible!”
“My body is just not the same as it was 5 years ago, where did this weight come from?”
“What the actual F is actually happening to my body?!?”
“There is no way I am going to put on a swimsuit this summer!”
Yup, these are all questions that arise for me! I know that these stories get stuck in my head and especially as a female it is so conditioned in me to believe them ... especially when it comes to my body.
So, here is the thing, people today are inundated with just about any possible way to lose weight. Maybe it's the power greens, or the diet smoothies promising to drop 15 pounds in 5 days, a pill that will magically take away the weight, and I am sure there are so many more that are out there.
We want to do ANYTHING to lose weight and feel better. If I just get to this “ideal” weight life will be so much better.

So, now I am going to ask you some hard questions. The first is this. Are you willing to do anything?
These questions are going to make you think, so go grab your journal and a pen, and let’s take a few minutes to do an exercise to investigate what is happening!
First question, are you ready?
Why is it that you are struggling with feeling terrible and having additional weight gain to begin with?
Yes, that one is really hard to answer and so I am going to go a bit deeper….
How is your overall lifestyle? (are you moving a lot? Sitting at a computer all day, watching a ton of tv and using technology?) Break it down
How is your nutrition and eating habits? Write down what you have eaten in the last 24 hours.
How are you sleeping? (using a screen right before bed? eating snacks before bedtime?)
How are your friendships and relationships going? (are you seeing people regularly, or are you spending a lot of time alone?)
If you are female, are you in perimenopause or menopause?
Let’s take a look at stress, how are you managing it? (Are your management tools healthy like some breath exercises or are you finding a glass of wine each night??
These are just some teaser questions for you, it allows you to open up some thoughts about how much you are doing currently to take care of yourself. And, these factors relate directly to your overall health…and even simply put…your weight gain. (There are more factors too, but this is just a sampling for you to take a look at.)
When we take a look at this list and notice things are not going so well, we can make a shift. None of these things are permanent, they CAN shift. It is not the fast-acting pill or the smoothie that guarantees 15 pounds lost in 5 days, is the REAL deal!
When you use these factors to create change you can make change and learn NEW tools to change your health. Your opportunity to find care and appreciation for yourself. That is what you deserve!
I want you to know that we tend to overcomplicate things, we can completely convince ourselves that it is going to be too hard and it's not worth it.
When you get to learn some very simple tactics to take care of your digestion, find ways to move your body and build some muscle, and even find tools for breathing and calming your body to help your anxiety you will find success! You will slowly start to see a change.
THAT is a gift! You are advocating for your health overall, and are willing to make LIFESTYLE change. You deserve to take care of yourself and find tools instead of fast and quick fixes that will create a deeper sense of failure down the road.
I want you to LEARN the tools that are going to work for YOUR BIO-INDIVIDUALITY!
It does start with YOU, and that can be very hard, you may be standing on the edge of that cliff looking into the unknown, but I invite you to advocate for yourself. Choose you! I know that seems like a big ask, but you only get this ONE body, mind, and soul so why not create the lifestyle and the support that gives you THE BEST YOU POSSIBLE?
